BLAST, the Danish tournament organizer and production company, has unveiled an extensive global media distribution plan for its inaugural and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s (CS:GO) final Major tournament, scheduled to take place in Paris later this year.
BLAST aims to break all-time viewership records by reaching over 100 territories and 24 languages, as stated in a press release. In addition to renewing existing deals with previous broadcast partners, BLAST has secured several new media rights partnerships. The BLAST Paris Major 2023 will be broadcast by Denmark’s TV2 Zulu, Serbia’s Relog Media, China’s GGTV, France’s MGG TV, Sub-Saharan Africa’s StarTimes, Ukraine’s Maincast, Poland’s FantasyExpo, Germany’s Fragster, and many others, according to the release.
CS:GO’s ‘Major’ tournaments are the most eagerly awaited events of the year. The most-watched CS:GO tournaments throughout the title’s decade-long history are all Major tournaments held between 2017 and 2022, with the PGL Major Stockholm in 2021 holding the top spot with 2.75 million peak viewers.
The upcoming Major will be the first-ever Major held in France for CS:GO—a country with a rich and storied history in the FPS—and the game’s final Major tournament before Counter-Strike 2’s release. 2023 also marks Global Offensive’s 10-year anniversary, and this Major event aims to celebrate that by “highlighting… the most iconic moments from the pinnacle of esports and Counter-Strike,” as mentioned in the release.
Alexander Lewin, VP of Distribution and Programming at BLAST, praised the announcement: “The BLAST.tv Paris Major is the pinnacle of the esports calendar. It presents BLAST and our broadcast partners with an opportunity to showcase the very best of Counter-Strike to a massive global audience.”
The BLAST Paris Major finals will take place live at the Accor Arena from May 18th to 21st.
