Virtual Learning UK (VLUK), an independent training provider, has joined forces with Belong Gaming Arenas, a LAN centre chain, to launch an esports education programme.
The programme, called the esports BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma, will be offered at three Belong gaming arenas located in Manchester, Birmingham, and Sutton.
VLUK, known for its expertise in sports and performing arts education, offers study programmes and higher education in workplace settings for students aged 16-19. This collaboration with Belong marks VLUK’s first foray into esports training.
The esports BTEC programme will encompass 13 units, covering areas such as esports event management, casting, and esports coaching. It is designed for students in the 16-18 age range. VLUK aims to provide an immersive experience in the esports industry for learners, and the selection of the three venues ensures accessibility for students from across the country.
Belong Gaming Arenas, established in 2016, has been creating community gaming arenas in the UK and the US. Currently, Belong operates 28 facilities across the UK. The partnership with VLUK signifies their commitment to promoting esports education and enhancing the learning experience for students.
Jordan Eastwood, Head of Esports at VLUK, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “I’m so excited about this new partnership, and I truly believe that this is the beginning of something really big in the esports world. Everyone at VLUK is thrilled that our learners will have the opportunity to learn within such fantastic locations with amazing facilities. It will give them fabulous opportunities to achieve and experience learning in the heart of the esports industry. I feel that this relationship will really enhance the learning experience for all students.”
In March 2023, Belong Gaming Arenas’ parent company, Vindex, was acquired by ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), a global esports conglomerate. As a result, Belong became an independent entity and will operate autonomously in its collaboration with VLUK.
