Having been founded in 2006, ALTERNATE aTTaX has always been a prominent team in the Counter-Strike scene, helping many young German players gain their first big break. The organization was initially founded in 2003 and began participating in Counter-Strike only with the release of Global Offensive in 2012. Over time, they accumulated a team that has competed at high levels, most recently qualifying for the IEM Cologne Play-In. However, up against stiff competition, they lost to Complexity and Team Falcons.
Although this decision may appear as a retreat, ALTERNATE aTTaX sees it as a chance to redefine its focus on Counter-Strike. “It might look like we are going back to square one, but it allows us to start anew and set new goals for Counter-Strike,” said Lennart Kreuter, project manager of ALTERNATE aTTaX.
New Focus on EVO Division
In this restructuring process, the organization will shift its focus to the development of its EVO division, aiming to build a long-term, professional team for future competitions. For now, ALTERNATE aTTaX will continue to support their current Counter-Strike team as it participates in ongoing tournaments such as Hellcup #2 and DACH CS Masters 2, where the team has maintained an impressive undefeated record in seven matches.
Player Opportunities and Future Plans
Due to this restructuring, the players of ALTERNATE aTTaX have been granted the opportunity to seek new engagements with other organizations. This strategic pivot aligns with current economic trends and essential transformations within the Counter-Strike esports sphere.
