ESL FACEIT Group Announces Exciting 2024 Schedule for Dota 2 ESL Pro Tour

ESL FACEIT Group, a leading force in esports tournament organization, has just unveiled an ambitious schedule for the 2024 Dota 2 ESL Pro Tour, promising an exhilarating year ahead for fans and players alike.

The 2024 ESL Pro Tour is set to enhance the Dota 2 competitive landscape significantly. The calendar is packed with three online DreamLeague seasons and two high-stakes ESL One live tournaments, culminating in an international showdown event in July 2023 that marks the grand finale of ESL Pro Tour Season 2.

ImageA notable addition to the upcoming season is the EPL Leaderboard, a new system where teams will accumulate EPT Points through their performances in both DreamLeague seasons and ESL One competitions. Those topping the leaderboard will earn direct invitations to the much-anticipated July ‘Showdown’ event.

  • The tour kicks off with DreamLeague Season 22, an online battle from February 25th to March 10th, featuring a staggering $1 million prize pool. This tournament will be structured with two group stages and a playoff round, ensuring a fierce competition from start to finish.

Teams leading the EPT Leaderboard will enjoy direct invites to DreamLeague Season 22, while others must prove their mettle in online open and closed qualifiers.

  • April brings the action to the physical stage with ESL One Europe, scheduled from April 22nd to 28th. Another $1 million prize pool and a whopping 26,640 EPT Points are up for grabs. Qualifiers for this in-person event will run from January 22nd to 30th on FACEIT, with the venue yet to be announced.

Following this, May will see the return of online competition with DreamLeague Season 23, setting the stage for the July international Showdown event. Details regarding this tournament, including its location, will be released later, but it’s poised to feature the top teams from the EPT Leaderboard.

Shane Clarke, Director Game Ecosystems – Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group, expressed excitement about the upcoming season: “The 2024 ESL Pro Tour for Dota 2 is poised to deliver a year of esports that’s nothing short of extraordinary. With huge prize pools, thrilling formats, and a deep commitment to the Dota 2 community, we’re gearing up for a year of unforgettable Dota 2 moments.”

Post-Showdown, the third season of the ESL Pro Tour will commence, featuring another DreamLeague season and an ESL One event, spanning from October 27th to November 10th, and concluding with ESL One Asia in December. The remainder of Season 3 will unfold in 2025.

This announcement comes at a pivotal moment for Dota 2, following Valve’s decision to discontinue the Dota Pro Circuit after The International in October. The next immediate event on the calendar is the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, taking place from December 11th-17th, setting the stage for what promises to be a transformative year for Dota 2 esports.
